To promote a safe and healthy environment for DRI faculty, staff, students, contractors and visitors by coordinating the provision of programs and services to reduce safety, health and environmental risks in a manner consistent with responsible fiscal and environmental stewardship. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) mission also encompasses responsibilities for implementing programs and services for protection of the local community and the environment from potential hazards generated by DRI activities. EHS provides program and services for protecting people and preserving the environment by:

• Assessing and assisting in the control of human exposures to occupational hazards.
• Promoting responsible waste management.
• Guiding the DRI community in the implementation of regulatory requirements
